Amanda's Advice
Low In Male Hormones
Dear Amanda,
I am very worried that I am low in male hormones because, I don't think I have an Adams Apple. People have also commented that my voice has an unusually low pitch and I can see them straining to hear me when I speak?
Is there some medication I can take to make my voice huskier? Or Is there something else I can do? I'm a 24-year-old male.

Dear Stephen,
This is a concern that you should discuss with your doctor in the first place, to eliminate any physical problems. There is a range of looks and sounds that are within normal limits for males, and you want to ensure that you are within that 'normal' range. If all is well in those investigations, you may need speech therapy to assist You in. increasing your voice Production. if the doctor doesn't think even that is necessary, then getting involved in drama courses or even singing lessons would force you to improve your vocal techniques.
Some men worry about their sexual features because they are themselves confused. If that is the case., consulting a Clinical Psychologist could be of value.
